On the 23rd of April 2019, 16 year 5 pupils went sailing at Poole Park Boating Lake for the first time. When we got there we were so excited to get on the water when we finally got on the water, after some brief instructions of how to rig the boat and sail it, we were quite scared and we all thought we’d capsize instantly but most of us did brilliantly and only a couple of people capsized. After 2 or 3 weeks we became more confident and started going faster. We also learned all of the reaches such as beam reach. Also, we played follow the leader which was really hard. Some people were frightened but by the end they were more and more confident. The jobs on the boat are steering and holding a blue rope that if you pull you go faster and if you loosen the blue rope you go slower. Now we are now all pros! by Reece and George 5R
