Welcome to Year 6
It is lovely to see everyone back and ready to learn.
Our Spring term has started well - a great Birds of Poole Harbour trip for half the year group - although the bad weather has postponed the other half for a short while (date to be announced once one is decided!).
Thank you to all who attended the SATS evening talk - it was VERY well attended and great to see everyone supporting their child on their journey towards SATS. The CGP books were handed out to all and these will now be used for homework each week - we will put the pages required on the homework sheet,
The Shire Hall trip (about crime and punishment in the UK in the last 800 years) has been brought forwards - the new dates are:
1st February - 6Somerville
2nd February - 6Hopper
3rd February - 6Anning
A few parent helpers are needed please so please indicate on the form when it comes home!! (Timings = 0900 - 1400)
The Spring Overview is uploaded further down this page so please do have a look at all of things we are doing in lessons this term!
We had an excellent Autumn term - some examples of our work and trips are below - and we believe that you all worked so hard and we expect that same enthusiasm and drive this term
The next PGL installment is due soon so please remind your parents to pay that online as soon as they can. Any problems with payments, please ask them to see Mrs Johnson in our school office.
Aside from this coming term, there are a lot of other things yet to look forwards too. We love a trip - we still have the summer term trips: Race Farm solar energy at Lytchett; Beach cleaning on the coast; Crime and Punishment (Spring term) in Dorchester and PGL in Osmington to name but a few....
We will have some more visitors in too - hopefully maybe a visit from the RNLI or the Coastguard to talk about water and coastal safety.
Of course, we have our SATS in May to work towards and we are confident that our children will do their very best.
Our year 6 team is:
Mrs Solomon (year lead) with Mrs Rickeard in 6 Anning
Miss Morgan with Mr Langdale in 6 Hopper
Mrs Williamson and Mrs Edge with Mrs Whitehall in 6 Somerville.
