On Thursday and Friday, the year 6 group went to the water works treatment centre in Holdenhurst
(Bournemouth) to learn how they treat our sewage and waste.
Once we arrived most of the year group were complaining about the stench and were saying they will
never come here to work. Duncan and Pete (the instructors) showed us around, once we settled down
they started to talk about how the water cycle worked and how they enhanced dirty waste into drinkable liquid.
As soon as Duncan and Pete told us all about the information, we went outside on a tour around the
sewage works. Some of the children were still complaining about the smell, but the others were now
enjoying the trip, by now we were at the end of the tour.
We went back to the classroom to have lunch (YUMMY). After lunch, we did a test on what we learned about. Following on that, we did an experiment. All the children really liked the trip and most of us wanted to go again. Thank you for the trip Duncan and Pete!
